Size It. Fit It Right.
Compare all five Defender enclosure sizes, door openings, cooling capacities and projector examples to help determine the right starting point for your installation.
Start With the Projector. Then Size the Enclosure.
Projector enclosure fit is not determined by one measurement. The projector body must physically enter the enclosure, the installed lens must clear the projection window, and the Defender climate-control system must support the projector's thermal load.
Cable routing, ventilation, mounting position and service access also need to remain usable after the projector is installed.
Projector Size
Check projector width, height and depth against the enclosure and access opening.
Thermal Load
Maximum projector power must remain within the selected Defender cooling capacity.
Lens Clearance
Removable, UST and long-throw lenses can change the total required installation depth.
Service Space
Leave room for airflow, cables, projector adjustment and maintenance access.
Five Standard Sizes. One Protected Platform.
Use the measurements below for initial enclosure planning. Door opening dimensions are especially important when checking whether the projector chassis can physically enter the enclosure.
Small
Medium
Large

XL
Overall enclosure dimensions are not the same as usable internal projector clearance. Climate-control hardware, insulation, mounting components, lens position, cable routing and service clearance occupy space inside the enclosure. The current Defender sizing sheet provides the exact overall enclosure dimensions and door openings shown above but does not specify one universal clear internal W × H × D envelope. Final projector fit should therefore be reviewed against the exact projector and lens configuration before ordering.
The Projector Fits. Now Check the Lens.
Lens geometry can change enclosure requirements even when the projector chassis itself fits comfortably.
Standard Lens
Standard throw lens configurations generally work with standard Defender enclosures when chassis, thermal and clearance requirements are satisfied.
Short Throw Lens
Short-throw lens configurations generally work with standard Defender enclosures when the lens projection path clears the window.
Ultra Short Throw
Ultra-short-throw lens geometry requires the dedicated Ultra Short Throw Defender configuration.
→ UST DefenderLong Throw Lens
Long lenses may require additional front-to-back clearance. Confirm the installed lens length before choosing the enclosure.

Small / PE-CC-SM
Compact Commercial Projectors
500 W cooling · 15.32" × 18.15" door opening
Recommended Use Profile
Best starting point for compact commercial laser projectors with relatively low thermal loads where the chassis and lens can enter through the Small Defender door opening.
PowerLite EB-L730U
PowerLite EB-L200SW
Medium / PE-CC-MD
Mid-Size Commercial Laser Projectors
1,500 W cooling · 24.50" × 27.00" door opening
Recommended Use Profile
A strong fit for larger fixed-installation laser projectors that exceed the practical chassis size of the Small Defender but remain well below the Medium enclosure's thermal capacity.
EB-PQ2008B
PT-MZ882
Large / PE-CC-LG
High-Output Large-Venue Projectors
2,500 W cooling · 32.00" × 34.00" door opening
Recommended Use Profile
Designed for substantially higher-output projectors where thermal load becomes the deciding factor even when the physical projector chassis is comparatively compact.
M 4K25 RGB
UDM-4K30
Large+ / PE-CC-LG+
30K-Class Large-Venue Projection
3,500 W cooling · 38.00" × 34.00" door opening
Recommended Use Profile
Intended for high-output large-venue projectors with substantial thermal loads, larger chassis and potentially longer removable lens configurations.
UDX-4K32
Griffyn 4K35-RGB
XL / PE-CC-XL
Highest Thermal-Load Defender Applications
4,000 W cooling · 44.00" × 42.00" door opening
Recommended Use Profile
The largest standard Defender for very high-output, high-thermal-load projection systems and installations requiring substantial projector, lens and service space.

Size Is Only Half the Decision.
Defender is designed for installations where the projector needs active environmental protection—not simply a metal housing.
Use Defender
Defender climate-controlled enclosures are the appropriate direction when the installation faces demanding environmental conditions or long-term outdoor exposure.
- ✓ Fully outdoor installations
- ✓ High humidity or moisture exposure
- ✓ Heat or cold extremes
- ✓ Coastal or harsh environments
- ✓ Permanent high-value projection systems
- ✓ Outdoor projection mapping
Mild Environment?
Indoor, covered or stable-temperature installations may not require a fully climate-controlled Defender enclosure. SSI also offers fan-cooled enclosure options for those environments.
- → Indoor commercial spaces
- → Covered installations
- → Stable ambient temperatures
- → Primarily physical protection
- → Fan-cooled Integrator applications
What SSI Needs Before Final Approval.
Send the complete projector and installation configuration so SSI can verify the enclosure rather than relying only on chassis size.
Projector Make & Model
Exact projector model and current manufacturer specification.
Lens Model
Include the exact installed lens for removable-lens projectors.
Maximum Power
Use maximum projector power for thermal sizing—not average draw.
Installation Environment
Indoor, covered, fully exposed, coastal, humid, hot or cold.
Mounting Direction
Confirm orientation, mounting method and required service access.
Cable & Lens Clearance
Account for power, signal, lens projection and maintenance space.
